New qualification pathway flowcharts

WA real estate and business agent licensing qualifications flowcharts map out the new qualification requirements for each pathway through to becoming a licensed agent. They are contained in the PDF attachment on top of the page.

Who will the new qualification requirements apply to?

They will apply to anyone wanting to register as a sales representative or be licensed as a real estate and business agent in Western Australia.

Existing registered sales representatives who want to apply for a licence may also need to complete ‘gap units’ from the new CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice as part of an application.  You still also have to complete a relevant Diploma qualification.

Please see the "WA real estate and business agent licensing qualifications" flowchart for an explanation of how the new qualification requirements apply.

Why are additional ‘gap units’ required?

Sales representatives who want to apply for a licence may need to complete ‘gap units’ depending on the type of registration held and whether they hold a superseded qualification.

These ‘gap units’ have to be completed as they provide operational content which is now contained in the Certificate IV qualification.

Please see the "WA real estate and business agent licensing qualifications" flowchart for an overview of how these gap units will apply.

Will existing sales representatives and real estate agents be required to retrain?

No, registered sales representatives and licensed real estate and business agents are not required to retrain to maintain their registration or licence.

Will the previous qualification requirements still be recognised?

From 30 September 2021, the previous CPP40307 Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) is no longer accepted for a sales representative or property manager certificate of registration.

The previous CPP50307 Diploma of Property Services (Agency Management) will continue to be accepted for a real estate and business agent licence.

I’m interested in enrolling to study a property industry qualification – how will these changes affect me?

Please see the pathways to registration and licensing flowchart for the options available to you.

Please check the National Vocational Education and Training Register for information and to locate registered training organisations with approval to deliver in Western Australia.
