On 15 April 2015, Benchmark Designer Homes Pty Ltd went into external administration, which meets the definition of insolvency under the Home Building Contracts Act 1991 and therefore will trigger home indemnity insurance.

Affected home owners should be covered by home indemnity insurance and are advised to contact the company's administrators, and their insurer.

The administrators are Hall Chadwick and can be contacted on (08) 6557 6200.

Residential building work contracts in Western Australia are governed by the Home Building Contracts Act 1991. If residential building work valued over $20,000 is to be undertaken, the Act requires that a builder take out home indemnity insurance in the name of the owner before accepting payment or commencing work.
