Advice for ‘Aussie Sheds Albany’ customers affected by bankruptcy

Consumer Protection has issued advice for customers of Aussie Sheds Albany affected by the bankruptcy of its sole proprietor Armand Javellana.

The business closed this week after taking payments from consumers for the construction of sheds but has failed to supply the materials or complete the work. So far 38 consumers have reported paying a total of almost $500,000 for work yet to be commenced or completed.

A public warning was issued on 10 August 2020:

Affected consumers are advised to fill out and sign a Proof of Debt form that can be downloaded from the Australian Financial Security Agency (AFSA) website. The form should then be lodged with Mr David Hurt and Mr Jimmy Trpcevski of WA Insolvency Solutions who are the appointed bankruptcy trustees.

Those who paid by credit card but did not receive any goods or services, should consider contacting their credit card provider and requesting a chargeback.

Consumer Protection is continuing to accept complaints and conducting enquiries into this matter. Complaints can be lodged on the Consumer Protection website and enquiries can be made by email consumer@dmirs.wa.gov.au or by calling 1300 30 40 54.
