This publication is a summary of the Local Government Officers Award.

On 12 June 2024 the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC) issued the 2024 State Wage Case decision increasing the minimum rates of pay from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2024. The details of the decision are on the State Wage Case decision page and the rates in this award summary have been updated to reflect the new rates.

All local government employers now operate in the state industrial relations system.

Please note:

  • Local government employers may have industrial agreements that provide pay and entitlements specific to their workforce. The Local Government Officers Award or parts of it, may not apply if employees are covered by an industrial agreement.
  • The Local Government Officers Award does not apply to employees whose local government employer transferred from the national industrial relations system to the state system on 1 January 2023. More information is available at www.dmirs.wa.gov.au/local-government-transfer
