A restricted electrical licence authorises the holder of the licence to carry out electrical work (including testing) associated with or for the purpose of the holder’s trade or calling.

A Restricted Electrical Worker’s Licence for Domestic Electrical Appliances allows the licence holder to perform the Work Area Category and Scope of Work detailed below.

Application form

This application form is used to apply for a Restricted Electrical Licence for Domestic Electrical Appliances on completion of an electrical appliance service person apprenticeship. If you have not completed an apprenticeship you can also apply for this licence via the following pathway: https://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/publications/restricted-electrical-licence-training-record-and-logbook-request-form

If you are submitting your application by post (or in person) and are making payment by credit card, you must complete the Application payment form and attach it to your application.

Applications received without payment will not be accepted.

Domestic Electrical Appliances

Scope of Work

  1. Disconnect and reconnect fixed wired domestic cooking appliances up to 240 volts.
  2. Replace the electrical units of defective electrical components confined within cooking appliances on a like-for-like basis.
  3. Ensure the equipment is safe for operation.

Fixed Wired Electrical Domestic Cooking appliances are defined by the Electrical Licensing Board as:

  1. Electrical Stoves
  2. Electrical Ovens
  3. Electrical Hot Plates
  4. Electrical Steamers
  5. Electrical Warmers
  6. Electrical Convection Ovens

This licence does not authorise the holder to install or alter fixed wiring.
